This 1948 Willys CJ-2A is a civilian model which was refurbished and made to resemble a military Jeep by its previous owner. The last owner purchased the truck in Oregon in 2010, and performed extensive work to bring the truck to its current specification. The last owner fitted a rebuilt 134ci inline-four which is mated to a 3-speed T90 gearbox, and a hi/lo range transfer case with PTO. The body and chassis were bead blasted and repainted, and the interior was fitted with new seats. This CJ-2A is sold with a matching homemade trailer, New York State registration and import papers stating all import duties are paid.
Previously red, the last owner repainted this Willys in Olive Drab, and the frame and trim are finished in semi-gloss black. No cloth top or top bows are included. New Firestone military tires are mounted to stock steel wheels. The front axle is equipped with manual locking hubs.
A homebuilt trailer is included with the sale. The trailer was reportedly built in 1972 to emulate a Second World War era military trailer. The trailer is fitted with new tires and a canvas tonneau cover, while some dings and patches are apparent. A Bantam tag has been applied, though the seller clarifies that the trailer is not a genuine Bantam.
The interior features a suite of five gauges, including a speedometer, ammeter, temperature gauge, fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge. 295 miles are shown since the restoration.
Both front seats and the rear bench are upholstered in olive canvas.
The previous owner installed a fully rebuilt 134ci inline-four during the restoration. The transmission is a 3-speed T90. The drivetrain also includes a Dana 18 transfer case with high and low ranges, as well as a PTO. The seller states that the second gear pops out under hard acceleration, and A NOVAK rebuild kit for this included for the transmission. Available documentation of the restoration is described as extensive.
Numerous photos of the underside of both the vehicle and the trailer are provided in the gallery. The axles are a Dana 25 at the front, and a Dana 41 at the rear.
Invoices documenting the refurbishment are included. Several books on the Willys Jeep, a canteen, and a color-matched gun rack are also included with the sale.
