This 1968 Triumph TR250 is a refurbished driver equipped with a 2.5L straight-six and a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The TR250 was a single-year, carbureted version of the TR5 that was built solely for the North American market. This example reportedly underwent an extensive refresh in the early 1990s that included a replacement engine, a TR6 frame, paint and body work, and a new interior. The car is offered by the selling dealer including photos from the 1990s work along with period literature an Oregon title and European import papers. Dutch registration can be provided.

Derived from that of the earlier TR4, sheet metal wears an older deep green repaint that currently presents a nice driver-quality gloss with an assortment of blemishes as pointed out in the photos and video below. Wheel arches, door jambs, and other common corrosion areas are shown in the gallery below.

Trim includes abbreviated chrome side spears, a period-style luggage rack, and cream-colored TR250 badging. Knock-off wire wheels are mounted with older Michelin redline radials, including the matching spare. The convertible top is shown both raised and lowered, and it said to remain in good condition with reflective stripes and clear plastic windows.

Interior appointments include a clean dash pad as well as black vinyl buckets with embossed center pleats, contrast piping, and aircraft-style lap belts. A wood-rimmed Moto Lita has replaced the original steering wheel. Accessories are shown to be functional in the video as are Smiths and Lucas gauges, which include a 5-digit odometer showing just over 14k miles. Total mileage is unknown. A 1990s CD player is linked to a pair of boxed speakers on the rear parcel shelf.

Power is from a replacement 2.5L straight-six and thought by the seller to be a TR250 engine. Twin Weber downdraft carburetors provide induction in place of the original Zenith-Stromberg units. A new camshaft and head gasket were recently installed. Shifting is through a 4-speed manual gearbox fitted with an optional Laycock J-type electric overdrive.

The 1990s refurbishment reportedly took place on a replacement frame from a TR6. Underbody photos are provided to show the condition of the driveline, suspension, and floors along with front disc and rear drum brakes. Fluid seepage and occasional drips are noted from the transmission, overdrive unit and differential, the latter of which exhibits some play according to the seller.

A commission number tag is present on the inner driver-side fender, though the seller notes that the body number is missing from the passenger-side cowl.

The sale includes a photo album from the 1990s refurbishment work as well as an owner’s manual and related period literature.
