This 1970 Lotus Elan Plus 2 is a blue-plate California car finished in British Racing Green over black and now shows 75,573 miles. The car was kept in a San Francisco private collection until recently acquired by the selling dealer. Power comes from a non-original 831C AX Motorsport block paired to a 4-speed manual transmission, and a mechanical service was reportedly completed prior to this auction. This Lotus is now being offered in Germany with European import papers stating all import duties are paid, clean Texas title. In addition, German registration can be provided.
The seller states that this Elan has been stored indoors, and that the older paint finish retains a glossy finish throughout. All factory Triplex glass is accounted for, while the chrome accents and much of the lenses/trim are also believed to be original.
This Lotus is fitted with correct steel 13″ knock-off wheels, which were previously refinished according to the seller. They are shod in matching Sumitomo HTR 200 tires. The trunk contains a spare wheel and is highlighted in the photo gallery below.
The cabin features newer factory-correct upholstery, accented by what are believed to be the original wood dashboard and seat belts. An Abarth steering wheel has been installed, which is smaller than stock and makes ingress/egress more comfortable. The door hinge bushings were recently replaced.
Per the seller, all gauges, electric windows, and headlight mechanisms are in proper working order. The odometer displays 75,573 chassis miles, which is said to be correct based on known history.
At some point in the past, this Plus 2 was fitted with a 831C AX Motorsport block, which is paired to the factory 4-speed gearbox. The seller states that a recent inspection and mechanical service was carried out prior to this auction.
A compression test was also completed, and revealed around 185 psi across all cylinders. The results are shown in the photo gallery below.
Additional undercarriage pictures are also displayed in the photo gallery.
