Back in 1971, the Adventurer Special edition was the top of the line of the D-Series pickup. It included woodgrain panels inside and out, as well as other trim and convenience upgrades. This example is a 1971 Dodge D200 3/4-ton Adventurer SE Camper Special, still with the original 383ci V8 and 3-speed automatic transmission. This car is sold out of a private collection in Belgium and comes with Belgian registration.
The truck was repainted in the early 2000s and remains in overall good condition according to the seller. The metallic green finish is said to be driver quality due to some scratches, chips, and other imperfections. All imperfections are shown in the gallery. Painted 16″ steel wheels wear Dodge hub caps and older Bridgestone tires with no cracking and plenty of remaining tread according to the seller.
The lined bed is said to be damage-free thanks to years spent under a canopy, mounting holes from which are noted in the top edges. The aluminum grille and chrome front bumper show their age, while other brightwork and badging are detailed up close.
Adventurer SE trim included woodgrain interior panels, carpeting, and extra insulation. The dash pad is shown to be in good condition, as are the carpets, rubber mats, ribbed headliner, and special Adventurer SE door panels. Black vinyl has been refreshed at some point on the bench seat, which shows some wear on its driver-side backrest. Switchgear and instrumentation look to remain stock throughout.
Most accessories are said to work, including the heater, warning lights, dome lamp, and factory gauges. The 5-digit odometer shows just under 43k miles and has rolled over according to readings on included paperwork. An air conditioning system was installed by the original dealer but has since been removed, while the period AM radio is linked to door speakers. Neither the horn or cigarette lighter are functional.
The 383ci V8 was treated to rebuilt cylinder heads and other freshening in 2006. The column-shifted Chrysler 727 3-speed automatic was rebuilt in 2013 with heavy duty bands, a billet servo, and more shown in an invoice below. Power is sent to a heavy-duty floating rear axle with 4.10 gears according to the chassis plate.
Underbody photos detail the condition of the drivetrain, suspension, and frame, as well as the rockers and cab corners. Power steering is equipped, and a new steering gearbox has been installed by the seller. Power brakes were rebuilt in the rear with new wheel cylinders and shoes in 2014.
