Introduced in September 1970, the 1971 Mustang received a major restyling and again grew in size, gaining more than two inches in length and almost two and a half inches in width comparing to it’s 1970 predecessor. This particular example is a Base coupe featuring a prominent “tunnelback” rear window design with flowing rear pillars. Imported in 2015 to Belgium, this car already has Belgian registration which makes it easy to register all over Europe.
Almost completely original, the car still has all its original body panels and was once repainted in its original color in the 90’s to address fading. During the repaint the car roof was painted in contrasting black to give it a more sporty look. Due to the age of the paint, there are some paint blemishes such as small chips but nothing major. The selling dealer installed a new front an rear bumper and new 15” Magnum wheels. The car has zero rust.
The interior is almost completely original. The carpet, seats, headliner, steering wheel and door panels are original. The selling dealer replaced the dash pad and installed a new RetroSound radio including Bluetooth and mp3. The original 2 spoke steering wheel has some cracks but is very rare and cannot be purchased anymore.
Mechanically the car is in great condition. The original 302ci engine is fully checked and received new spark plugs, oil and oil filter. The brakes are in good condition and the transmission shifts flawlessly.
