This 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 4.5 was sold new in Tennessee and remained in the South for most of its life prior to its purchase by the seller nearly 4 years ago. The car has received a cosmetic and mechanical refresh performed by the previous owner, with work including a repaint in the original color, new leather upholstery, carpets, and restored wood trim while the 4.5-liter V8 benefits from new motor and transmission mounts, full fluid change, tune-up, and new muffler and more detailed below. The entire car was repainted in the original Silver (DB180) finish in 2017. The process included the removal of all bumpers, trim, and moldings. All anodized aluminum trim was polished prior to reassembly and new body and grill molding strips were installed in place of the originals. Rust repair was not required at the time of the repaint and the original sheet metal and weld points remain present in the areas typically known for rusting according to the seller.
The factory air suspension has been extensively sorted by the seller, with new OEM front and rear air bags installed along with a set of refurbished air valves and accompanied by new Bilstein shocks all around.
