This 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is bought from the original owner. It’s still wearing its original and ultra-rare color named Blue Metallic. The paint is still in very good condition with only some typical scratches on the rear deck due to the hardtop. Originally delivered with 14″ Bundt wheels, the sellinger dealer sourced some rare 15” hubcaps and wrapped them with new Firestone tires. The car was sold new in Switzerland. When the original owner moved to Canada in the late 90’s, he took the car with him. The selling dealer shipped the car back to Belgium and it’s now sold with a clean Canadian title, European import papers stating all import duties were paid. In addition, Belgian, Dutch or German registration can be arranged.
The interior is still completely original. The front seats still wear the original upholstery. Partly in blue leather and Sports Check cloth, also a very rare option. Interior features include an Philips radio, manual windows, and air conditioning. The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 240 – km/h speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. New sun visors and door sills were installed.
The 4.5-liter V8 features Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 190 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. A new fuel tank was installed, as well as a new fuel filter, oil filter, oil, coolant, spark plugs and spark plug wires. All bushings were replaced last year. The injectors were ultrasonic cleaned and the engine received a fresh tune up. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The car runs and drives as it should with no issues whatsoever.
