This 1976 MGB Roadster was acquired by the previous owner six years ago and is just now imported from California to Holland by the selling dealer. The car is powered by a rebuilt 1798cc inline-four, which is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Repainted in 1999, the car is sold with records dating back to 1979 documenting an engine rebuild along with suspension, wheel, and interior updates performed by previous owners. Work commissioned by the selling dealer included installing a new alternator, brakes and oil change. This MGB is now being offered with a clean California title and European import papers stating all import duties are paid. Dutch or German registration can be arranged as well as transport through whole Europe.
Records indicate the car was repainted in 1999 in a shade of red that differs slightly from the original finish. Noted blemishes are shown in the gallery and include some visible overspray, a small dent on the passenger-side front quarter panel, and various scratches along body. Small dings are shown in the brightwork, and a noticeable panel gap is present on the trunk lid according to the seller.
Apart from a small tear in the support bar pocket, the soft top is said to be in good condition and features a rear zip-out window. The scissor bolts along the driver’s side are loose, though the top is said to be functional. Suspension and wheel upgrades performed by a previous owner included a sway bar fitted to the front, the conversion of the rear shocks to tube units, and wire wheels in place of the original units. The Michelin tires are dated to 2002 and will require replacement.
The interior features black upholstery, an aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a modern stereo unit fitted by a previous owner. A new turn signal stalk and headlight switch were installed by the seller, and the speedometer is said to be jumpy. The odometer indicates 31,814 miles and is believed to have rolled over once.
Detailed photos exhibit the condition of the seat upholstery, which was installed by a previous owner and accompanied by new seat foam. The dash pad is believed to be a newer unit and shows some cracks.
The 1,798cc inline-four is said to have been rebuilt in 1993 at 95k miles and is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox equipped with electronic overdrive. Available maintenance records date back to 1979, with work performed over the course of the previous owner’s ownership including new rear leaf springs with urethane bushings, a new radiator with upper and lower hoses. The thrust washers for the differential are noted to be worn and would benefit from a future replacement according to the seller.
Several photos of the undercarriage are included in the main gallery.
