This 1983 Porsche 911SC in the factory color Grand Prix White comes from the last year of SC production and the first year of the cabriolet and was acquired by the seller in 2015. Sold new at Sierra Porsche/Audi in Reno, Nevada, the car is powered by a 3.0L flat-six paired to a 5-speed manual transaxle, and several modifications were installed. A service performed in November 2015 included a valve adjustment, head stud inspection, and adjustment of the timing/fuel injection. An A/C service was recently completed and a new battery has also been installed. This 911 is now offered with the original window sticker, stamped service book and maintenance records, and a fresh German registration.
The car was repainted in the original Grand Prix White color that presents at a driver quality according to the seller, with numerous chips, a couple dings, and some scrapes along the front spoiler as shown in the main gallery. The front valance could also benefit from a straightening according to the seller. A set of magnetic Martini stripes are included and run down the center of the body when fitted. Staggered-width 16″ Fuchs have been refinished and feature 21mm spacers fitted to the rear. New Continental Extreme Contact tires have been installed and the suspension has been set to Euro height and fitted with new Bilstein struts.
Both the front and rear spoilers were original options, and the new soft top is reportedly made with the proper German fabric and headliner. The snaps for the included tonneau cover are missing from the door and dash, likely a result of the car’s early production according to the seller.
Inside, the factory pearl white leather seats were replaced by the seller with OEM Porsche Script seats finished in black leather with cloth inserts. Detailed photos show the condition of various interior surfaces, including the crack-free dash, original door panels, and rear seats.
The cruise control is not functioning, and the high beam switch requires adjustment. A new steering wheel bushing from Mitch Leland replaces the original. All remaining accessories and controls are said function, including the newer Pioneer stereo unit and recently-serviced A/C which is said by the seller to blow cold. The steering wheel is covered in leather and a new steering wheel bushing by Mitch Leland was recently installed. The odometer shows 137k miles and is believed accurate by the seller based on the included documentation.
The 3.0L flat-six is mated to a 915 5-speed manual gearbox and has been upgraded by the seller with Carrera oil-fed tensioners, pop-off valve for the airbox, Turbo valve covers, and a Bursch exhaust. Records through 71k miles are documented in the original maintenance, and $3k major service was conducted at the former PCNA Headquarters in Reno, Nevada at 54k miles that included an engine-out reseal, new hoses, clutch, and alternator. The last major service occurred in at 124k in November 2016 and included a valve adjustment, head stud inspection, new catalytic convertor, compression check, and adjustment of the timing and fuel injection. A new battery was recently installed along with a Rothsport oil inlet check valve, and a German inspection was completed last week. The CIS fuel injection has been serviced and is stated by the seller to perform very well, providing smooth cold starts and good power.
