This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is a two-owner example with California blue plates, showing just over 60k miles. The car was purchased in Santa Rosa, California, and was acquired from the second owner one month ago by the selling dealer. Power is supplied by a 5.6L SOHC V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and a 60k-mile service was performed in 2022. An accident-free Carfax is provided, along with a stamped service booklet and the original owner’s records dating back to purchase. This R107 560SL is sold with the original owner’s records, manuals, a factory hardtop, original California plates & Belgian registration.
The Nautical Blue Metallic (929) paint is the original shade, and was resprayed on the driver’s door and passenger-side front fender to correct scratching in the finish. The seller notes one small ding on the rear bumper, and a few chips from removal of the hardtop. 15” 13-slot alloys wear 205/65 Michelin Primacy Tires, with a fifth wheel and factory tool kit found in the trunk.
1987 was the second year of production for the 560SL model. US market cars were equipped with larger bumpers and a trunk-mounted third brake light.
The dark blue fabric top appears to be free of rips and fading.
The interior finishes appear well-preserved, in Mushroom leather with burl-wood accents. The cockpit was well-appointed by period standards, and features automatic climate control, power windows and mirrors, a Becker Gran Prix cassette-radio, and a driver’s-side airbag. The dash is free of cracking and discoloration is minimal. Factory hang tags have been preserved and can be seen in the photo above. The odometer shows 60,590 miles and is believed to be accurate.
The leather-upholstered seats have held their shape well, and are free of rips and deformation. Slight burnishing can be seen along the outboard back bolster above.
The SOHC 5.6L M117 V8 is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission and peak power was rated at 227hp when new. The range-topping 560SL also featured dual exhaust, anti-lock braking, and a limited-slip differential as standard equipment, and this example retains California emissions equipment. Included service records document regular maintenance over the life of the car, and the seller notes that a 60k-mile service was performed in 2013.
A collection of lift shots documents the condition of the underbody, and can be seen here and in the gallery below
A file of service receipts documents regular maintenance over the life of the vehicle. A stamped service booklet is included showing maintenance performed at the dealership and Santa Rosa-based specialty shops. Original manuals, three keys, and a Becker demo cassette are also included. A provided Carfax report records no accidents and corroborates the mileage and ownership.
